How do I apply for weatherization services?

 

Weatherization can help you save money on your utility bills by improving home energy efficiency. You're also helping the environment.

Our trained staff visits each home and puts together a plan that will lead to the most savings. Work may include adding wall and attic insulation, furnace repair, and home safety measures. We explain what we are doing to help you understand how you will save money. Community Action of Eastern Iowa weatherizes about 100 homes each year. 

In Iowa, we select homes to weatherize based on a prioritization list. That list is generated by households that have applied for utility assistance through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). The State of Iowa uses LIHEAP applications to select homes based on energy usage and other factors. It is possible to apply only for weatherization, but even if you apply and meet the income guidelines, there is no guarantee that your home will be high enough on the prioritization list to be weatherized.
